Cabled Knit Scarf-Michael's

It's a little late in the season for knitted scarfs, but there's always next winter.  This cabled scarf is so pretty with the cables.  Designed for the intermediate knitter.  I made this last winter for myself.  It's a beautiful addition to your winter ware.

Materials Needed:
Loops & Threads; Impeccable; 4.5 oz/128g #01008 Aran (3 balls)
Size 5.5mm (U.S. 9 ) Knitting Needles or size to obtain gauge
Cable needle


Approx 8-inches (20.5cm) wide x 64-inches (162.5cm) long.
16 sts and 22 rows = 4-inches [10cm] in stocking st.

Cast on 37 sts.
Knit 7 rows (garter st), noting first row is WS and inc 7 sts evenly across last row. 44 sts.
1st row: (RS). (K1. P1) 3 times. K1. P2. K26. P2. (K1. P1) 3 times. K1.
2nd row: (P1. K1) 3 times. P1. K2. P26. K2. (P1. K1) 3 times. P1.
3rd row: (P1. K1) 3 times. P3. K2. (C4F) 6 times. P3. (K1. P1) 3 times.
4th row: (K1. P1) 3 times. K3. P26. K3. (P1. K1) 3 times.
5th and 6th rows: As 1st and 2nd rows.
7th row: (P1. K1) 3 times. P3. (C4B) 6 times. K2. P3. (K1. P1) 3 times.
8th row: As 4th row.
Last 8 rows form pat.

Cont in pat until Scarf measures approx 62.5-inches [159cm], ending on a 2nd row and dec 7 sts evenly across last row. 37 sts.
Knit 7 rows.
Cast off knitwise (WS).

approx = approximately
C4F = slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at front of work. K2, then K2 from cable needle
C4B = slip next 2 sts onto cable needle and leave at back of work. K2, then K2 from cable needle
cont = continue
dec = decrease(ing)
inc = increase 1 stitch by knitting into front and back of next stitch
k = knit
p = purl
pat = pattern
rs = right side
st(s) = stitch(es)
ws = wrong side

Tip: Use photo as a guide and follow manufacturer¿s instructions for all products used.
The center cable panel alternates rows of cable crosses to form a woven look.
